My Morning Paper – April 29, 2017 – Non-Issues and Foolishness

“AG dismisses revelations as ‘foolishness” The Nassau Guardian

Excerpt from this article; “With two PLP Cabinets minister facing explosive revelations surrounding their conduct, Attorney General Allyson Maynard-Gibson indicated that the party’s opponents are attempting to distract the PLP on the ‘finish line’, calling the matters ‘foolishness’.

‘We have just come from the IAAF [World] Relays where when any of our wonderful athletes, when any of them were at the finish line, the opponents tired to distract them,’ she said when asked whether she believes her Cabinet colleagues erred.’

‘We are staying focused.  MY colleagues are staying focused.’

On May 3 and May 10 the record of the Progressive Liberal Party in changing fundamentally this country – I mentioned some of those things today – for the benefit of the Bahamian people stands for itself.

‘And very importantly Bahamian recognize how Bahamian lives have been changed, whether it is Baha Mar, National Health Insurance (NHI), Swift Justice, the FIR (Flight information region); they are all changing the Bahamas and Bahamian lives.’

‘That record speaks for itself.”

MOH PC-Alyson Maynard Gibson Jerome Fitzgerald069

This past week saw Education Minister, Jerome Fitzgerald being exposed in violating the Manual of Cabinet and Ministry Procedure with him soliciting contracts on behalf of his father’s company for three very lucrative contracts in trucking, brokerage and limestone services; these violations have been labeled as ‘non-issues’ by the Chairman of the Progressive Liberal Party, Bradley Roberts and are now being dismissed as ‘foolishness’ by the Attorney General herself.

This past week saw the revelation of over $94,000 being paid to a U.S. bank account for Minister of Labour Shane Gibson between August 2011 and January 2013.  This money, claims Minister Gibson, was used toward his 2012 election campaign and toward initiatives in the Golden Gates constituency, such as scholarships but Minister Gibson has refused to answer as to why they campaign contributions and constituency allowances were being made to a U.S. account and not a local account but yet these matters have been labeled as ‘non-issues- and ‘foolishness’.

This reeks of the sheer arrogance of the present Progressive Liberal Party government, who have now seem to taken the stance that no matter what wrongs they do, it does not matter because the rules and laws do not apply to them.

Indeed this is a level of arrogance that has not been seen before in the history of the Bahamas among its elected officials; we cannot continue down this ‘dark path’.

To be this dismissive of such blatant wrong-dong among the ranks of your parliamentary colleagues and then speak to your success in ‘Swift Justice’ is hypocrisy at his highest.

The Progressive Liberal Party fails for one reason, it is their nature.

“PM praises minister at center of Baha Mar controversy” – The Tribune

Excerpt from this article; “As he continued his silence on the controversy involving several members of his administration, Prime Minister Perry Christie singled out Education Minister Jerome Fitzgerald for praise last night, commending him for his performance this term.

Speaking at a Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) rally on Central Andros last night, Mr. Christie referenced certain party members, including Mr. Fitzgerald, as being a part of the Sir. Lynden Pindling dream.

And in what seemed like the closest he came to referencing the controversies surrounding his government, Mr. Christie also railed against ‘lies’ and ‘fake news’, though he never specified what  he was referring to.

‘The FNM will say all sorts of bad things about us’, he said.  ‘They will tell fake news about us, but we are protected by the shield of faith against the lies, against the fake news.  We will be strong.”

At this point in time can Prime Minister Perry Christie honestly believe that Sir. Lynden would be proud of this Progressive Liberal Party? And exactly what is the ‘fake news’ and lies being told by others about the PLP?

I expressed the opinion two days ago that since these latest instances of controversies have surfaced regarding the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) member of parliament for Marathon, Jerome Fitzgerald, he would probably be promoted within the ranks of the PLP party and today we have the leader of the governing Progressive Liberal Party attempting to present him [Minister Fitzgerald] to the country like ‘Simba’ from the movie ‘The Lion King’ – The Favorite Son, if I were the candidate for Central Andros for the PLP, I just may feel slighted about this all.

favson

This praise would have amazed me if I did not know the nature of the Progressive Liberal Party but it has always seemed that the ‘dirtier’ you are the more worthy of praise you are in this political organization.

Minister Fitzgerald was one of the first ministers out of the gates, after the May 7th 2012 general election win with questionable dealings and controversy; with the ‘gift’ of a nolle prosequi by the acting Attorney General of a client represented by the law firm of Allyson Maynard-Gibson, these clients being ‘suspected’ of smuggling guns into the country.  Mr. Fitzgerald and the attorney general’s office have yet to give a plausible explanation as to why this nolle prosequi was granted but it seems as if minister Fitzgerald took this as a ‘green light’ to do whatever pleased him as a elected government official, seeing that there were really no consequences for these questionable actions as he hid behind the Attorney General – Favorite Son.

Since then, Minister Fitzgerald as openly admitted to concealing a report about the toxic levels of gasoline in the water of the persons of his constituency over fears of losing his job and his actions have gone unpunished the Prime Minister Perry Christie – Favorite Son.

Recently; it has been revealed that Minister Fitzgerald has broken Parliamentary Procedure (Code of Ethics), by soliciting three contracts from former Baha Mar developer, Sarkis Izmirlian.  The Prime Minister has not addressed these current allegations directly; with Bradley Roberts, Chairman of the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) stating in a press release that the matter is a non-issue due to the fact that Mr. Fitzgerald was never able to secure these contrasts n behalf of his family’s business; so even Bradley Roberts knows that Jerome is Perry’s favorite son, I wonder how many others within the party are aware of this, we don’t want anyone catching feelings and the like.

As Minister Fitzgerald is being caught up in a new round of alleged wrong-doing concerning his mother and the National Insurance Board, I ask myself just when will the ‘good’ minister realize that enough is enough but then maybe you are allowed to do as you please without fear of consequence as a Favorite Son.

The Progressive Liberal Party fails for one reason, it is their nature.

My Morning Paper – April 27, 2017 – Two Steps Back

I have waited months to hear how the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) government had planned to fund the newly instituted National Health Insurance (NHI) scheme  moving forward because even if they were to lose the election in the next two weeks, a plan should be in place to fund it; actually the scheme should not have been implemented without a way of funding it but….

“Govt. doesn’t know how it will fund NHI moving forward – About 2,600 people enrolled in plan.” – The Nassau Guardian

Excerpt from this article; “THE government still does not know how it plans to fund National Health Insurance (NHI) moving forward, according to Health Minister Dr. Perry Gomez.

While speaking to reporters outside the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) yesterday, Gomez said currently, NHI is funded through the ‘public purse’, but admitted that the government cannot continue to do so.

He said while several options have been discussed, the government has yet to make a final decision.

‘Right now, the government is funding it from the purse but I don’t think you could continue that way,’ Gomez said.

‘Somewhere down the line we will look at other means.’

‘There are some things that were suggested in the very first discussion of it like taxes….’

In October 2015, Prime Minister Perry Christie said the government was considering introducing a tax to fund NHI in the next fiscal year,

Christie did not say what kind of tax the government is considering or the proposed rate of taxation.”

“Somewhere down the line we will look at other means”, really Health Minister Gomez?

PERRY GOMEZ0

I personally feel that the whole idea of an additional tax would be political suicide for the Christie administration, especially given the outstanding questions concerning the revenues collected from Value-Added Tax (VAT) but how else do you fund such an ambitious scheme that you have promised the people?

Don’t you, as a government, feel any sense of shame or embarrassment at your failure to fully implement the scheme because you seemed to have overlooked or realistically address the essential and most critical issue of funding?

Rhetorical question; because we all know that this government lacks the moral compass that would allow it to be able to feel shame and embarrassment.

It is most unfortunate that his government has put itself and the entire county in this predicament but it only highlights the incompetence and ineptitude of this present Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) government and also highlights the reckless manner in which they continue to approach the affairs of the people.

There should be no way that the government could have/should have gotten this far along with this plan, now having people being registered for the health care plan with the possibility of it not making it out the first phase, this within itself is the definition of incompetence.

National Health Insurance was formally introduced to the Bahamian people during the first Christie administration, at which time the question of funding arose and the Christie administration replied that it was not a tax but yet we still stand with the question of how will the scheme be funded and the only viable answer is an additional tax.

The Progressive Liberal Party fails for one reason, it is their nature.

My Morning Paper – April 25, 2017 – A Scathing Indictment

“If this government of the PLP could have so much scandals in one term, can you imagine what would happen they get another term?

If having caught some of them with their hands in the cookie jar; you send them back to office; can you imagine what would happen to the cookie jar?”

The Rt. Hon. Hubert Ingraham

An ominous warning that was not heeded by the people of The Commonwealth of The Bahamas for whatever reason; the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) was re-elected and here we stand today.

Smith criticizes actions of both Fitzgerald and Maynard-Gibson” – The Tribune

Excerpt from this article; “Former Cabinet minister George Smith said Jerome Fitzgerald’s solicitation of Sarkis Izmirlian for Baha Mar contracts shows the extent to which this country has allowed the ‘bastardisation of the Westminster system’ to take place.

Mr. Smith, who considers himself an admirer of Mr. Fitzgerald, said he is conflicted in the face of the news of Mr. Fitzgerald’s actions because while the Education Minister’s desire to ‘assist his father’ might have been noble, there are clear Cabinet procedures that guide ministers of government.”

pm_&_smithg

The say the road to hell is paved with good intentions and one must weigh the good intentions of Minister Fitzgerald against the fact that he also stood to personally profit substantially had these contracts actually materialized along with his father, along with the fact that he violated the oath that he swore to uphold when sworn in as a government official.

Many will question former Progressive Liberal Party Cabinet minister, George Smith’s moral authority to criticize the actions of Minister Fitzgerald and they may have all right to, I would just say that George Smith criticism is quite a scathing indictment within itself but is likely to be glossed over by the Progressive Liberal Party government, as they continue to release information of wrong-doing by members of the Free National Movement (FNM) even from 2011, to draw attention from the current wrong-doings of a government which has been plagued with controversy and wrong doing from May 8th of 2012.

In the mean time, Prime Minister Perry Christie remains silent on the entire matter as he claims to reporters that he does not run away from any issue.

My Morning Paper – April 24, 2017 – The Best Government that Money can Buy

“Nygard gave Gibson $94,000 – $5,000 a month paid to minister’s US bank account” – The Tribune

Excerpt from this article; “Peter Nygard sent thousands of dollars per month to a Bank of America account belonging to Labor and National Insurance Minister Shane Gibson between August 2011 and January 2013, documents obtained by The Tribune show.

The payments totaled $94,131.10.

Mr. Gibson did not immediately acknowledge that the transaction occurred when he was contacted yesterday, but after seeing the documents presented to him by The Tribune, admitted receipt of the funds.

He claimed the money was used as a contribution to his 2012 election campaign and for community initiatives in the Golden Gates constituency such as scholarships to students.”

Of course my first question is if the $5,000 per month stipend was actually being used for community initiatives in the Golden Gates constituency, such as scholarships; then why were they being paid to a US bank account and not to the constituency association’s bank account?  But that is another question for another day.

Just last week it was revealed that the Minister of Education, Science and Technology, Jerome Fitzgerald had solicited lucrative brokerage, trucking and limousine contracts on behalf of a company owned by this father.  This week is has been revealed that minister Shane Gibson, as a government official, was on the ‘payroll’ of Lyford Cay resident Peter Nygard.

tiefs

It is a well know fact that Peter Nygard ‘played ball’ with the current government and seemed to have gotten whatever he wanted and needed; even having some of them come to his defense in a dispute that he is having with his Lyford Cay neighbor, Louis Bacon; so was Sarkis Izmirlian treated with such distain by this same government because he refused to ‘play ball’?  Just thinking out loud.

It is clear that these recent events show that our present system is crying out for campaign finance reform.  We need to know who is working for whom; who is contributing to whom; so we can actually make a determination about the elected official or perspective elected official loyalty and whether it is actually to the country or the betterment of their ‘sponsors’.

This would cover all parties and individuals vying for elected office, even Free National Movement (FNM) candidate for Marco City, Mr. Michael Pintard as it relates to his works with Save The Bays, information I think he has already offered up in the past but these on-going revelations that are being exposed with Cabinet members of the Progressive Liberal Party is a perfect reason/argument to the introduction of campaign finance reform legislation because it seems that this government has the propensity to ‘freelance’.

As Prime Minister Perry Christie remains silent and Bradley Roberts, chairman of the governing Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) attempts to brush of the recently revealed infraction by PLP Marathon Member of Parliament, Jerome Fitzgerald; a clear breach of the Manual of Cabinet and Ministry Procedure, as being a ‘non-issue’ it becomes clear as why it is imperative to rid the country of this PLP government; a government that clearly believes that the rules and laws are applicable to everyone but themselves – a government that has set itself above the law.

“Roberts: Fitzgerald matter a non-issue” – The Nassau Guardian

Excerpt from this article; “Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) Chairman Bradley Roberts come out in defense of Minister of Education Jerome Fitzgerald, who has admitted to soliciting the ‘assistance’ of then Baha Mar developer Sarkis Izmirlian on behalf of his father for ‘some work’ with the resort, despite such actions breaching Cabinet procedure.

Amid revelations that Fitzgerald wrote to Izmirlian in 2013 requesting lucrative brokerage, trucking and limousine contracts, the Marathon MP, denied he has any contracts with Baha Mar and its affiliates.

But he has not provided a response to the clear breach of Cabinet procedure.”

The reasoning as to why this considered a ‘non-issue’ by the Progressive Liberal Party should give one pause and make one wonder if these persons are really this ignorant or is it that they believe that the rest of yes are; the reason being that nothing ever materialized from the request.

I ask Minister Fitzgerald what about the honor of the office he was elected to, a the act in its very self violates article 40(b) of the Manual of Cabinet and Ministry Procedure, which states that a minister must not solicit or accept any benefit advantage whether for himself, his immediate family or any business concerns or interest or trust which he is associated from persons who are in…”, do we just over look law and order and just toss it out of the window?

To say that this is ‘non-issue’ because nothing ever materialized is tantamount to saying that a person is not guilty of any crime because his gun jammed or knife did not find its mark, the argument or reasoning is bordering on the insane and insulting.

His [Minister Fitzgerald’s] intent was clear; it was an attempt to abuse his elected position and just because the deal fell through does not negate the original intended act.

I now find it amusing that Mr. Bradley Roberts now wishes to deflect from this serious situation with the threat of, “I have a couple of bombshells to drop on them….”  I warn Mr. Roberts before he loads up his ‘bomber’, is this really a wise course of action that he would wish to take, given the party that he chairs, a party of misfits and serial offenders that has a new controversy and/or scandal in the news each and every day.

The Progressive Liberal Party fails for one reason, it is their nature.

My Morning Paper – April 21, 2017 – An Incredible Turn of Events – The Irony of it all

The Christie administration continues to disappoint, even as they are about to be forced to demit office.  Yesterday an email was revealed of the ‘Hon’ Jerome Fitzgerald, member of parliament for Marathon openly soliciting ‘very generous’ contracts from the original developer of the Baha Mar resort, Sarkis Izmirlian, today he explains.

“Minister admits soliciting Sarkis – PM silent on explosive revelations” – The Nassau Guardian

Excerpt from this article; “Minister of Education Jerome Fitzgerald admitted to contacting then Baha Mar developer Sarkis Izmirlian to ‘seek assistance’ in advancing ‘some work’ with the resort on behalf of his father, the founder of Bahamas cargo & Logistics.

In a series of emails between Fitzgerald and Izmirlian dating back to 2013, which was leaked by The Tribune yesterday, Fitzgerald lobbied for brokerage, trucking and limousine contracts, telling Izmirlian the matter required his ‘personal intervention’.

Fitzgerald wrote that his father’s medical bills were $20,000 per month, and expressed concern that ‘we have not heard anything yet’.

He also requested Izmirlian provide a recommendation to approach other hotel brands.

In a statement yesterday, Fitzgerald maintained that he has no contracts with Chow Tai Fook Enterprises (CTFE), or any of Baha Mar’s affiliates, and said he does not own shares in Bahamas Cargo & Logistics.”

ag and fitz

I am confused because I think this is the very same man that the Christie administration sought to demonize at one point, accusing him of working along with others in an attempt to destabilize the government, so my question is was this before or after Fitzgerald made his plea for these ‘generous’ considerations and then there is the ethics of it all.

The tale of how they attempted to brand Mr. Izmirlian as an ‘enemy of the country’/government is actually quite amusing and interesting indeed.  Minister Jerome Fitzgerald, yes the same one, read some of the private emails of others, obtained by questionable means, in The House of Assembly, citing parliamentary privilege, in a desperate to prove that Mr. Izmirlian was working along with others in an attempt to destabilize an already shaky government.  All I can say is that karma is a…I mean oh, the irony of it all.

Now, Mr. Fitzgerald has been exposed by the means of ‘leaked emails’, it appears, to be in ethical violation of his Parliamentary and Cabinet positions.  “Fitzgerald’s actions appear to be a breach of Manual of Cabinet and Ministry Procedure.

Article 40(b) of the procedural code states that a minister must not ‘solicit or accept any benefit advantage whether for himself, his immediate family or any business concern or interest or trust which he is associated from persons who are in, or seek to be in, any contractual or special relationship with government.”

Now here things can get a little ‘sticky’, as Minister Fitzgerald seeks to maintain ‘that he has no contracts with Baha Mar, now owned by Chow Tai Fook Enterprises (CTFE), or any of Baha Mar affiliates, and said he does not own shares in Bahamas Cargo & Logistics.’, I will acknowledge the fact that he [Minister Fitzgerald] may not have contracts with the new owners of the resort and there are ways of actually finding out but I will ask on whose behalf did he lobby for these ‘lucrative contracts’ when Izmirlian was still the owner if his father, the owner of Cargo & Logistics is incapable of running the business?

Even if his father became gravely ill after he himself made the initial arrangements, there is still the question on whose behalf was the Minister making his plea?  While I am very sympatric to Minister Fitzgerald, as it pertains to the well being of his father; I did it shameless that he sought to use his father condition to secure these contracts, which would have benefitted the minister in the long term.

Will the Attorney General investigate?

The Progressive Liberal Party fails for one reason, it is their nature.

“$12 mil. Mini-hospital opened in Abaco” – the Nassau Guardian

Excerpt from this article; “There were many tears and wide smiles in Marsh Harbour, Abaco yesterday as Prime Minister Perry Christie cut the ribbon tied around the main entrance of the new Marsh Harbour Health Care Centre.

While speaking to an emotional crowd in Abaco, Christie said the renovations at the facility, which are valued at $12 million, were part of the Progressive Liberal Party’s (PLP) plan to prepare the country for the full roll out of National Health Insurance (NHI) by creating and renovating infrastructure and providing more resources.”

I really do not know how to ask this question; anyway let me give it a try, if the Free National Movement (FNM) government broke ground for this $12m healthcare facility in April of 2012, how is now that it is fully opened in 2017 after being renovated?

This does not even make sense.

Abaco-Mini-Hospital-Clinic

There are many questions surrounding this healthcare facility; the major one being, exactly why did it take so long to complete this facility?  I would have thought that a caring and loving government would have completed it and opened the facility immediately given the dire need for modern healthcare facilities in the country, especially in the Northern Bahamas, somehow I get the impression that this government really does not care about its citizens.

I find it troubling that the government of the day would openly tell such blatant lies without the expectation of being found out.  A major lie being exposed at this time is that the Free National Movement (FNM) is against the National Health Insurance (NHI) program; when it was the FNM that picked up where the Progressive Liberal Party failed at when they were voted out in 2007 and began immediately preparing the country for the phased implementation of NHI, which began with the introduction of the prescription drug program and the updating of the country’s health care infrastructure, which included the building of the mini-hospital in Abaco which is now being used by this caring and loving government as a political campaign tool to gain votes, nothing short of shameless.

My Morning Paper – April 19th 2017 – Major Issues – The Sheer Confusion of it all

“PM: PLP platform not yet agreed” – The Nassau Guardian

Excerpt from this article; “The revelation that the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) administration will provide free electricity for certain customers created a stir, but Prime Minister Perry Christie declared yesterday that the party’s platform has not yet been formally agreed upon, although it has been made public.

Christie suggested that ‘someone put that out’ but he did not explain exactly what that meant.

The party announced last week in its action plan on myplp.org, that should it be re-elected it would introduce policies under which the government would ‘cover the cost of electricity to residential customers who limit their monthly use to below specified limits’.

“This means that the use of electricity will be free to those customers,’ the plan said, though it did not detail the consumption limits.

Asked yesterday to explain his party’s free electricity pleadge, the prime minister told The Guardian. “I am going to speak later on my platform.’

‘There is major process that I am now engaged in, in my office, that will have an amazing impact on electricity out and beyond what the pledge [says]because the platform has not been formally agreed and settled and someone put that out.”

christie

Beside the fact of the prime minister is saying only if his government if re-elected he will then provide free electricity to certain persons, there is also the issue of who ‘leaked’ the plan before he [the prime minister] and his government had the opportunity to sort through things and make it seem more plausible.

“The PLP released a press release on Wednesday night announcing the release on the plan”, so it was the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) themselves who ‘leaked’ the plan; how devious, but yet the prime minister still insists that the plan was ‘prematurely released’, yes, by the PLP themselves.

I am under the impression that they [the Progressive Liberal Party] thought that most people would not get past the words ‘free electricity’ and therefore fall on their knees at the feet of the government in praise but wait, some of us actually think.

I predicted that by the end of the day, when this new plan was released, that it would be refuted by management of Bahamas Power and Light (BPL).

“Last Thursday Bahamas Power and Light (BPL) denied knowledge of the PLP’s free initiative.” But it is the Progressive Liberal Party’s Member of Parliament for Tall Pines, Leslie Miller that seems most outspoken on the issue.

“Miller: Free electricity plan makes no sense.” except from this article; “Tall Pines MP Leslie Miller, the former executive chairman of the Bahamas Electrical Cooperation (BEC) said yesterday ‘it makes no sense’ to exempt customers from paying their bills based on power consumption.

Miller said the former BEC Board explored supplementing bills of approximately 3,000 customers, including non-profit organizations which looked after the less fortunate and the elderly.

He said this would be made possible by the projected savings from the long term contract for fuel and additional power from Clifton Pier ‘which was going to save anywhere from $100 million to $150 million a year on fuel alone.’

‘We were going to be very specific’, he said.

We were not [targeting] the general public.

‘That was for specific people who were really unable to pay their bills.’

Miller continued, ‘The government cannot afford to give across-the-board, free electricity based on consumption.  That makes no sense to me. I do not see how they can do it.”

“I do not see how they [the Progressive Liberal Party government] can do it”, but isn’t he, Miller, a part of same said government?  This will be addressed at a later time; the point now is how do you provide free electricity when it a known fact that the cooperation cannot afford it, even if it is subsidized by the government; because then the country cannot realistically afford it.

Indeed, the major problem/drawback with the plan is the cost of fuel and then there is the issue of off-setting the price of the ‘free electricity’, because as we all know nothing is free, there is always a price to be paid by ‘someone’ and when it comes to the government, that ‘someone’ is usually the taxpayer; you and I.

The only feasible way that I can personally see the country providing ‘free electricity’ to anyone is to have free electricity provided in the first place and the best way to do this is through an intensive and aggressive alternative energy program, where the money that will be lost by this present proposal by the PLP be put into subsidizing home owners and others to investing in solar systems.  This would cut down on the demand on the grid and/or produce enough power to be fed back into the grid – FREE electricity- which then can be provided to others at a reduced rate, anything short of this is not economically feasible at all.

It is amusing that the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) would actually make a promises such as this and when questioned about it make the claim that the details have not yet be formalized; this sounds like most of their promises to date but yet the Prime Minister asks us to re-elect his government and wait to see what they have planned because, as the prime minister would put it, this proposal will have “an amazing impact on electricity out and beyond what the pledge [says]” although nothing has been formalized yet; sounds like the great things that were supposed to happen at Baha Mar.

The Progressive Liberal fails for one reason, it is their nature.

My Morning Paper – January 27, 2017 – The Democratic National Alliance Illusion

I have found that Democratic National Alliance’s (DNA) strategy to being voted into governance somewhat curious and haphazardly applied; as there seems to be little to no logic behind it; no real plan.

The DNA has taken the position going into the upcoming election that owing to the fact that they were able to garner about thirteen percent (13%) of the overall votes in the 2012 election that this makes them a force to be reckoned with and this shows that that people are indeed looking for a chance.

Yes, indeed, people are looking for a chance but are they willing to follow a political organization that cannot seem to put itself in a position to not just to win a general election but actually win a seat in a general election; because we know it is fact that until they were to win at least one seat and be able to be represented on the national stage, that is in the House of Assembly, then they will not be able to convince persons on a large enough scale to actually make them the government someday.

17971949_10156022332159056_5031044789086635075_o

So they continue their trek to hold off on their plans to become the government of The Bahamas and attempt to become the Official Opposition by unseating the Free National Movement (FNM), for the next five years during which time they will ‘show their worth’ – the only problem with this plan is that while they plan to sit on side opposite ‘Rome will continue to burn’, under the leadership of the Progressive Liberal Party with Perry Christie as Prime Minister.

So as the general election draws near, many are becoming quite annoyed with the ineffective strategy of the DNA as the ‘end game’ is not appealing and conducive to the forward growth of the country, some of these persons being within the rank and file of the DNA itself, who have already come to the realization that if they [the DNA] were to become the Official Opposition; the country will continue to face the very same problems that is has faced for the past five years – this is pure lunacy.

Now I encourage you to ask yourself the following questions; if McCartney was so passionate about making a difference why did he then turn down the advice given to him as he left the Free National Movement (FNM) to begin the Democratic National Alliance (DNA) which was to run as an independent candidate in 2012, win the seat then form the party, this way the party would have already had a voice in the House of Assembly and why does his platform mainly bash the Free National Movement (FNM) if he truly is hoping to win the next general election, as very little of his rhetoric especially as of late, has been geared toward the governing Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) which has done the entire country an tremendous disservice?

Take this how you would like, it is your choice.
