My Morning Paper –April 24 2017 – Intent And the Bullet

As Prime Minister Perry Christie remains silent and Bradley Roberts, chairman of the governing Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) attempts to brush of the recently revealed infraction by PLP Marathon Member of Parliament, Jerome Fitzgerald; a clear breach of the Manual of Cabinet and Ministry Procedure, as being a ‘non-issue’ it becomes clear as why it is imperative to rid the country of this PLP government; a government that clearly believes that the rules and laws are applicable to everyone but themselves – a government that has set itself above the law.

“Roberts: Fitzgerald matter a non-issue” – The Nassau Guardian

Excerpt from this article; “Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) Chairman Bradley Roberts come out in defense of Minister of Education Jerome Fitzgerald, who has admitted to soliciting the ‘assistance’ of then Baha Mar developer Sarkis Izmirlian on behalf of his father for ‘some work’ with the resort, despite such actions breaching Cabinet procedure.

Amid revelations that Fitzgerald wrote to Izmirlian in 2013 requesting lucrative brokerage, trucking and limousine contracts, the Marathon MP, denied he has any contracts with Baha Mar and its affiliates.

But he has not provided a response to the clear breach of Cabinet procedure.”

The reasoning as to why this considered a ‘non-issue’ by the Progressive Liberal Party should give one pause and make one wonder if these persons are really this ignorant or is it that they believe that the rest of yes are; the reason being that nothing ever materialized from the request.

I ask Minister Fitzgerald what about the honor of the office he was elected to, a the act in its very self violates article 40(b) of the Manual of Cabinet and Ministry Procedure, which states that a minister must not solicit or accept any benefit advantage whether for himself, his immediate family or any business concerns or interest or trust which he is associated from persons who are in…”, do we just over look law and order and just toss it out of the window?

To say that this is ‘non-issue’ because nothing ever materialized is tantamount to saying that a person is not guilty of any crime because his gun jammed or knife did not find its mark, the argument or reasoning is bordering on the insane and insulting.

His [Minister Fitzgerald’s] intent was clear; it was an attempt to abuse his elected position and just because the deal fell through does not negate the original intended act.

I now find it amusing that Mr. Bradley Roberts now wishes to deflect from this serious situation with the threat of, “I have a couple of bombshells to drop on them….”  I warn Mr. Roberts before he loads up his ‘bomber’, is this really a wise course of action that he would wish to take, given the party that he chairs, a party of misfits and serial offenders that has a new controversy and/or scandal in the news each and every day.

The Progressive Liberal Party fails for one reason, it is their nature.
