My Morning Paper – November 21, 2020 – Crime Of Allegations

This past week the leader of the opposition was heavily criticized for the state of one of the airports in Cat Island.  While he was busy deflecting with the nonmedical excuse of, do not worry about what I did or not do, just fix it; along came a story seeming to implicate the deputy prime minister, the Hon. K. Peter Turnquest in an alleged scheme to defraud an investor of millions of dollars.

“Turnquest denies conspiracy claim “– The Tribune

Excerpt from this article: “The deputy prime minister last night branded claims that he ‘conspired’ to defraud Sky Bahamas financer of almost $27m in sham loans as ‘categorically false’.

K. Peter Turnquest hit back at allegations levied by two companies controlled by Fred Kaiser, a Canadian businessman with whom he previously enjoyed a long and close relationship, by saying that he was ‘appalled’ his name was being dragged into a dispute with another ‘former business partner’.

That business partner is Captain Randy Butler, chief executive of Sky Bahamas, which was forced to cease flying last year after the Bahamas Civil Aviation Authority refused to renew the air operator certificate that was required to carry fee-paying passengers.  Mr. Turnquest though, noted that he is not named as a defendant in Mr. Kaiser’s statement of claim – only Captain Butler.”

Despite the fact that the deputy prime minister is not named as a defendant in the court papers of this alleged conspiracy claim, it seems that he has already been tried and convicted by many, including the opposition; Progressive Liberal Party (PLP).

Excerpt from the Philip Brave Davis, Leader of the Progressive Liberal Party on PM’s Silence In The Peter Turnquest Scandal”

Released November 20th 2020

Excerpt from this article; “It is now day two since the Progressive Liberal Party laid in Parliament a writ of summons alleging a 20 million dollar by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance.  The Prime Minister has not said a word.  The Deputy Prime Minister’s statement was arrogantly dismissive and missed the point of good governance entirely.

First, the Prime Minister must be reminded that he has a duty to act when his ministers refuse to take the honorable course.”

Exactly what is the “honorable course” in this case Mr. Leader of the Opposition? As it would appear that you have assumed the deputy prime minister guilty based on court papers that do not even name him as a defendant; so it must be a case of guilty by association, so we will go by the standard that you have set.

I will now reference the court document entitled;

“UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT FOR THE SOUTHERN STATE OF NEW YORK

JANE DOES 1-10, INDIVIDUALLY AND ON BEHALF OF ALL OTHERS SIMILARLY, SITUATED

(PAN TIFF)

VS

PETER J. NYGARD ,  NYGARD HOLDINGS INTERNATIONAL PARTNERSHIP, AND NYGARD HOLDING

(DEFENDANT), items 125-126 inclusive state; :Nygard was also close with Deputy Prime Minister Philip “Brave” Davis and regularly met him and paid bribes to him and his political aides.”

Now while the leader of the opposition is not named as a defendant in these court proceedings, at this point a very serious allegation is made against him.  While Mr. Nygard is being accused of human trafficking, sex trafficking and the transport of under aged females for the sex trade, one must question exactly what was Mr. Davis was being paid bribes for.

Exactly what did he know and when did he know it?

To date these allegations against Mr. Davis have gone unanswered but yet he not only demands answers of K. Peter Turnquest about a writ that he is not named in, he goes on to demand his resignation.

Let me say that this is not a case or argument being made of “just because they did it, why not let it go now’, but rather a call for fair play and equitable application of the rules and standards.

K. Peter Turnquest is a grown man and only a part of the Free National Movement (FNM), this is to say that the organization can go on without him.  I just ask that while we are calling for a ‘pound of flesh’, especially side opposite, I would like to suggest that we exact this very same blood lust upon the persons within that very same organization who seems equally guilty of the same crime of “allegations”.
