My Morning Paper – December 18, 2020 – Putting the Toothpaste Back into The Tube

The nonsense coming from the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) as they attempt to convince the country that the leader of the opposition is not somehow involved in the dealings of Peter Nygard would be laughable if they were not so deeply rooted in hypocrisy and duplicity – is this the way that they promise to run the country, if God forbid, they were to win the next general election.

The chairman of the opposition Senator Fred Mitchell, says and I quote; “May we again try to put it into the thick sculls of the FNM Chairman and Prime Minister that Philp Brave Davis has nothing whatever to do with the events alleged in the complaints against Peter Nygard.

Nada.”

While the good chairman would prefer people to take him at his word I most certainly cannot because there is a court document, the very same complaint that he refers to, that contradicts his assertion of innocence on behalf of the leader of the opposition.

A complaint filed in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York; that names Peter Nygard, Nygard Inc., Nygard International Partnership and Nygard’s Holdings Limited, as defendants, with the Plaintiffs being “Jane Does, 1-10, individually and on behalf of all others similarly  situated.”

Under the subheading,

3. NYGARD has significant Power and influence in The Bahamas, resulting from his chronic Bribery and Bahamian Political contributions (page 40); item #125, (page 45), states; “Nygard was also close to Philip “Brave” Davis (“Davis”) and regularly met with him and paid bribes to him and his political aides,”

So for the good chairman to state that “Philip Brave Davis has nothing whatever to do with the events alleged in the complaint against Peter Nygard” is a matter that still needs to be explained away by the leader of the opposition or investigated to the fullest extent of the law.  Now some may say that the chairman is correct in his assertion but I ask what did Davis know and when did he know it and exactly what do these allegations of bribery refer to?

Was he being paid to “look the other way” and encourage others to “look the other way”; the country deserves the answers to these questions that arise from the allegations in this complaint.

Recently, Peter Nygard has been taken into custody and indicted with some of the crimes as alleged in this complaint, let there be a clear understanding that while the indictment may or may not have arisen from this complaint or subsequent lawsuit, the new legal actions now taken against Mr. Peter Nygard does not negate the allegations against the leader of the opposition as mentioned above.  To even suggest as much is to put forth a lie but it has been done and will continue to be done in order to put the proverbial toothpaste back into the tube in an effort to save the political life of the leader of the opposition.

This within itself it hypocritical and duplicitous if we are going to follow the standard set by the Progressive Liberal Party  (PLP) itself when it asked for the resignation of one K. Peter Turnquest over allegations of fraud.

The opposition Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) seems to be giving as a preview of how they would govern with Philip ‘Brave’ Davis as leader; with an extremely jaundiced view of the application of the laws of The Bahamas, oddly it does not seem to be that much different than the way that the ‘old’ PLP governed.

The Progressive Liberal Party fails for one reason, it is within their nature.
