My Morning Paper – May 25, 2017 – As the Delusion Deepens

It is said that the sincerest form of flattery is imitation, so after the speech from The Throne yesterday, which laid out the Free National Movement’s  (FNM) plans for the country, the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) has taken it up on themselves to feel very flattered, as they have now made the claim that the plans as laid out by the new government is just a continuation of the plan which they left in place, you really cannot get anymore delusional than this.

Philip-Brave-Davis-8

“PLP: FNM is following in our footsteps” – The Tribune

Excerpt from this article; “THE Progressive Liberal Party tired to brand much of the government’s agenda in the Speech from The Throne as a continuation of the pervious administration’s plans.

‘We listened intently and the reality is that the Speech from The Throne is an acknowledgement of the transformative foundation already constructed by the PLP government,’ Official Opposition Leader Philip ‘Brave’ Davis said at a press conference yesterday.

‘We are encouraged to hear that the government has embraced essential job related skills training and specialized programs for youth.

The government must now enter the real world of governance and not trash talking from a platform he added.”

While the press could not hear from the Progressive Liberal Party while they were they government, the press will rue the day when they became the Official Opposition, as I now see many a pointless press conferences ahead.

In May 2012, when the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) won the government, I has advised them that all of the ‘heavy lifting was done’ and all that they had to do was follow the ‘blue-print’ left by the Free National Movement (FNM), of course they did not take my advice and actually the entire country was puzzled for five years as to who they were listening to because we were sure of one thing, it was not the people that elected them.

The Progressive Liberal Party now seems to want to convince the people that it spent five years building a solid foundation on which to then build a Stronger Bahamas but the only thing that the country experienced was a rapidly derogating economy, with four downgrades as proof of the PLP’s failure to bring one essential component about, the improvement of the economy to better the lives of its citizens.

I warn the Free National Movement now, if they are indeed following in the footsteps of the former government  abandon that journey immediately, as we saw where that was taking the country.

The Progressive Liberal Party failed for one reason, it is their nature.

My Morning Paper – May 19, 2017 – Now Hold On, It Wasn’t Like That…..

It would have appeared that since the general election of last week, the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) seems to have gone about business as usual, being their usual boorish selves, seemingly unable to help themselves until the subject of forensics audits were brought up.

“Ornamental’ Allen And Pratt quit Co-Chair Roles” – The Tribune 18 May 2017

Excerpt from this article; “AS the Minnis administration prepares to have a forensic audit conducted into the Urban Renewal programme, Algernon Allen revealed yesterday that he and Cynthia ‘Mother’ Pratt resigned as co-chairs of the initiative last Thursday.

Mr. Allen said they have no concerns about what the audit will reveal as their role was largely ‘ornamental’, with neither he nor Mrs. Pratt having a major part in the decision-making processes of the programme.

He told The Tribune; ‘In the audit which had been conducted of Urban Renewal which was laid on the table of the House by the Speaker last year, both co-chairs were described as incidental to the whole Urban Renewal decision making process and as having limited to no authority and as being ornamental as opposed to substantive in terms of decision making.”

COCHAIRS

First, I would ask, is he referring to the same audit that was done by the Auditor General, Terrence Bastian or is this the private audit that was done by the Urban Renewal Commission, when it is determined by them that the ‘financial discrepancies’ that the Auditor General may have found may have come about because he”…..failed to appreciate the philosophy of Urban Renewal”.  Well the philosophies should not have changed so are the two co-chairs are suggesting that they are not tied to these philosophies and are only ‘figure heads’ for the program?

The problem that I am having with this is that Mr. Allen is suggesting that he and Mrs. Pratt, while they may have been aware of wrong-doing, may have been unable to act in the best interest of the public due to their limited involvement in the program; akin to an athlete endorsing KFC knowing that the eleven ‘secret’ herbs and spices are deadly but not taking any liability for this because they are only the spoke persons for KFC.    I find this type of position quite irresponsible, especially in light of the high moral standards that these two individuals claim to uphold and the way in which they fervently defended the program, which they now claim only to be figure-heads for, when the initial audit was carried out.

So now we are here; “Urban Renewal ‘Grave Concerns” – The Tribune 18 May 2017

Excerpt from this article; “IN his first day on the job, Minister of State for Grand Bahama Kwasi Thompson expressed grave concerns regarding Urban Renewal in Grand Bahama and has suspended certain operations pending further review.

In addition to having full control of the day-to-day operations of the Ministry for Grand Bahama, Mr. Thompson also has oversight of Urban Renewal and hurricane restoration and repairs on the island.

‘Last night, I began being briefed on the status of the ministry.  Needless to say, there are some matter of great concern,’ he told reporters at a press conference on Wednesday at the Office of the Prime Minister in Grand Bahamas.”

The current approach is very promising in light of the former co-chairs tune changing from ‘there was no wrong doing’ to ‘if there was any we did not know anything about it due to our very limited involvement in the award-wining initiative’ and now the question must be asked, if Mr. Allen and Mrs. Pratt did not have a major part in the decision-making process of the programme, then who did?

The Progressive Liberal Party fails for one reason, it is their nature.

My Morning Paper – May 17, 2017 – The Progressive Liberal Party’s way Forward & the Big, bad White Boogey Man

There has been a recent call by many for the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) to move toward a more youthful leadership, as many begin to endorse Chester Cooper, Member of Parliament for Exuma and Ragged Island; one of the four PLP candidates to have secured their seat in the recent general election, to be its ‘face’ moving forward.

These endorsements have been met by many in the public with great encouragement especially in light of some of the recent racially sensitive views expressed by some of the elder members of the party since its defeat a week ago.

“Cooper rebukes racially charged comments” – The Nassau Guardian

Excerpt from this article; “In a move that could give insight into the future brand of the progressive Liberal Party PLP) as it rebuilds and attempts to improve its image following a crushing defeat at the polls last week, incoming Exuma and Ragged Island MP Chester Cooper yesterday distanced himself from racially charged remarks made at a PLP National General Council meeting on Monday night which Cooper called ‘unfortunate’.

‘During Monday’s ceremony for the farewell address for the former Prime Minister and Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) Leader Perry Christie there were unfortunate remarks made by the moderator in the vein of black people enslaving each other while white people watched and white Bahamians were not supporters of the PLP, as an allegory for our party’s recent loss at the polls,’ Cooper said in a statement.

‘While there will be much to discuss and probe in the wake of the PLP’s loss, I want to make clear that I, Chester Cooper, in no way support these sentiments or think them fitting and proper analysis of the PLP’s loss.”

These remakes were made as Mr. Cooper attempted to distance himself from the remarks of the moderator to the effect of “You know, I always speak to my children.  And tell them, ‘Check your history years ago.  Who round us up while we were in Africa?’ Isaacs told the crowd.

‘Our own black people round us up.  The white people stood on the sideline and watched.  Well ain nothing changed, man. Ain’t nothing changed.  When are we as a black people gonna learn to stick and work together?  You don’t see white people supporting the PLP, per se. We’ve got to learn stickablity.”

These remakes come shortly after Fred Mithcell, former member of Parliament for Fox Hill and former minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration made the statement of “Brent Symmonette, Sarkis Izmirlian,  Louis Bacon, Eileen Carron and Fred Smith, all deserve a special place in hell for their contribution to the re enslaving our people.  It is unbelievable.”

Both of these statements seek to conjure up the ‘big, bad white boogey man’, who means the Progressive Liberal Party and the Bahamas at large no good.  This notion has enraged many progressive thinking Bahamian citizens, who have long looked past the whole notion of race as it pertains to politics and life in general.  It is my opinion that if the Progressive Liberal Party seeks to make itself ‘attractive’ for the 2022 general elections, it will have to rid itself of the ‘old guard’ that seeks to keep the ‘white boogey man’ alive and it just may have to do so through a ‘Chester Cooper’

Some may wonder why I would even bother to write in what seems to be in support of the PLP; well in a democracy an opposition force is needed but not one that seeks to use race as a weapon or controlling factor.

The Progressive Liberal Party fails for one reason, it is their nature.

My Morning Paper – March 15, 2017 – Unhinged

In what can only be described as a fit of blind rage, former Member of Parliament for Fox Hill and former Minister of Immigration and Foreign Affairs Fred Mitchell, has revealed the main reason as to why he is in politics and this reason is the reason why he should never be elected to public office ever again, even as he suggests that he plans to contest the Fox Hill seat in 2022, at the age of 69.

“Mitchell: FNM win not the second coming” – The Nassau Guardian

Excerpt from this article; “Former Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration Fred Mitchell charged yesterday that there was nothing ‘revolutionary’ about the Free National Movement’s general victory and insisted that the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) must move quickly in preparation for the 2022 election.

Mitchell lost in Fox Hill to FNM candidate Shonell Ferguson, who took him down by more than 200 votes.

‘I have read a lot of rubbish over the past few days since the election from the FNM leadership and its supporters,’ Mitchell said.

‘My take on it is this, the FNM and its supporters should not believe their own propaganda.’

‘The objective reality is that they simply have a mandate to govern for five years.

There is nothing revolutionary about their victory or far reaching.

They were able to manipulate a population suffering from the ill effects of the economic recession, which was never overcome, and the turn of clever phases plus money of foreign interests to accomplish what they have, and the failure of the PLP to correct the problem.”

Exactly which problems went uncorrected by the Progressive Liberal Party, who assured the country and their supporters that all was well with the country going into the 2017 elections and that to elect another government would put all of their good works at risk?

First of all, some remarkable events took place on the day of election.  This day saw the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP)  suffer its worst defeat in history, and it also saw a sitting prime minister, Perry Christie and leader of the PLP, lose his seat; this is the first time in our history that this has even happened, so for Mr. Mitchell to suggest that nothing big was accomplished, especially with all of the other ‘career politicians’ that were unseated, is disingenuous at best as he attempts to deflect away from the massive defeat which will take the PLP some time to recover but Mr. Mithcell implies it is no big deal.

“Politics is not a crying game.  It is a competition for power.  Power is the only fact.

They need it, we want it and need it to govern and protect the poor in this country.”

It would seem that Mr. Mitchell is in the ‘game’ of politics for power and for him to suggest that the PLP is needed to ‘protect the poor’ is utter nonsense, as his party has taxed far too many middle class citizens into poverty but now seek to suggest that these are the same people that they [the Progressive Liberal Party] are looking out for their best interest; this is why this man should never see the halls of Parliament ever again.

It is clear that Mr. Mitchell has become totally unhinged by the recent lost at the polls and due to this ‘unhinging’ has began to show his true self; which we all had already suspected was a ‘dark soul’ but yet he will accuse others of being ‘especially vicious and vindictive’, and maybe this is what he is expecting because it is what he has become accustomed to dishing out as a member of the Progressive Liberal Party.

What is most unfortunate about the entire situation is that the more that Mister Mitchell goes down this road, the more he damages the image of himself and the Progressive Liberal Party.

The Progressive Liberal Party fails for one reason, it is their nature.

My Morning Paper – May 12, 2017 – The ‘Innocent’ Suffers for the Guilty

As I sat in Star Bucks this morning, the sentiment being expressed was that the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) lost largely in part due to poor leadership and governance and therefore the ‘innocents’ were made to ‘suffer for sins the guilty’, if you can label anyone within the out-going Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) government as ‘innocent’.

“A look at the numbers” – The Nassau Guardian”

Excerpt from this article; “KEY members of the Christie administration were slaughtered in Wednesday’s general election that saw Free National Movement FNM) Leader Dr. Hubert Minnis elected as the fourth prime minister of The Bahamas.

Former Prime Minister Perry Christie and ministers Dr. Bernard Nottage, Jerome Fitzgerald, Shane Gibson, Melanie Griffin, Hope Strachan, Fred Mitchell, Michael Halkitis and Kenred Dorsett all lost seats.

Also losing their seats were former ministers V Alfred Gray, Dr. Michael Darville, Obie Wilchcombe and Dr. Perry Gomez.

Centerville presented a tough battle.

FNM candidate won the seat by seven votes over Christie.”

mp2 (1)

I must admit that the results of the recent election held on Wednesday of this week was a total shock to me, because it was my prediction that the Free National Movement would indeed win the election but I suggested by about three to five sets; bringing about a ‘balance of power’, so to speak but this was not to be, as the PLP government was defeated 35 to 4, with the Democratic National Alliance (DNA) again not winning any seats and actually seeming to lose support.

There is wide spread speculation as to why the Free National Movement won so handedly and beside Dr. Hubert Minnis staying the course and putting together an excellent and diverse team; whom I have all confidence will turn the country around for the better, there is the perception that many ‘good’ PLP candidates become ‘victims’ of their party’s abuse of power over the Bahamian people and of the positions of power and abuse thereof over the past five years – the ‘innocent’ were made to suffer for the guilty.

mp2 (2)

As we move forward , I am expecting the argument to be made that Dr. Hubert Minnis did not win the election but rather the Progressive Liberal Party lost the election; this argument will be presented and rejected because of the fact that Dr. Minnis brought the Free National Movement back together as a political organization, which was clearly seen at the rallies leading up to the day of the election but even with all of the of speculation as to why the FNM won the reality is that they have won and now the work of the party has began as the government of The Commonwealth of The Bahamas, bringing about the positive change necessary to move the country forward as was promised by the pervious administration.

The Progressive Liberal Party fails for one reason, it is their nature.

My Morning Paper – May 9, 2017 – Yellow Belly Tactic – The Fine Art of Fear Mongering

Along  Wulff Road, hung high by the governing Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) government is a banner which reads; “Don’t stop scholarships – Vote PLP”, my only thoughts are that only a political organization that is totally desperate would resort to this level of fear mongering in order to retain power but this seems to have been the ground works for an argument being put forth by the leader of the Progressive Liberal Party; the Hon. Perry Christie; an argument based totally in unmitigated and unsubstantiated fear.

“Christie: Change in govt. could put nation at risk” – The Nassau Guardian

Excerpt from this article; “Prime Minister Perry Christie hit the rally stage at Clifford Park just after midnight yesterday and suggested that a change in the government could irrevocably damage the course of the future.

During an uncharacteristically short speech, Christie stressed the importance of returning the Progressive Liberal Party-led government to power.

‘I don’t want this country to enter into a period of instability,’ Christie said. ‘I don’t want to see this country lose the progress we’ve worked so hard for.’

‘…..Good things, big things are underway and the danger of the FNM is all of that and more is at risk.  We know the FNM’s record of stop and cancel.”

big things

First, I would like to point out that it is my opinion that Perry Christie gave a short speech last night due to one fact, he had nothing sensible to say and he was quite aware of the fact; so to give a short speech based in unsubstantiated fear mongering and Progressive Liberal Party ‘facts’ was in his best interest, as the Perry Christie is able to make the statement of  a “Change in govt. could put nation at risk” but is unable to make a plausible argument for it and back it with any substantive facts of any sort.  I encourage the Prime Minister, when he would want to get down and dirty like this, to recall the 52 week program initiated by the Free National Movement (FNM) and look at its successes and then talk about the FNM’s record of ‘stop and review’.

The Prime Minister again speaks to “…..Good things, big things [that] are underway” which would be stopped if the Progressive Liberal Party were to lose tomorrow elections and the collective public would like to know exactly what is he speaking to as for the past five years the country’s economy has been in a shambles, with over a billion dollars being unaccounted for; the crime rate is at an all time high with no answers in sight from the out-going government; the educational system has not improved as promised but yet this government wishes to speak to its successes and ask for another term in office to build on them; seriously?

Let us talk fact and not fear mongering. It is fact that this government has been embroiled in the most controversies of any government in the history of the Bahamas and without any consequences.  It is fact that is almost any other ‘civilized’ society, many of the current politicians would have been re-called and some even jailed.

It is fact that the country has not moved forward under this administration, given that some of the programs introduced by them were full of potential, it has become clear that they were only introduced as ‘pay-back’ for political patronage and therefore went nowhere and became a drain on the country’s coffers.

It is fact that some of the programs introduced by this government have actually moved the country backward, with only ‘certain’ government officials and their ‘friends and ‘family’ moving ahead.

Indeed, the Leader of the Progressive Liberal Party seems to have resorted to ‘yellow-belling’, fear mongering in order to convince people to give him and his party another chance to do ‘big things’ and people, such as myself, would like to like to let him know, as far as we are concerned his political life is over.

The Progressive Liberal Party fails for one reason, it is their nature.

My Morning Paper – May 8, 2017 – Forward Together? – Losing Focus

“Christie: Get swayed by Papa, end up with Minnis” – The Tribune

Excerpt from this article; “IF the Free National Movement wins this election, Dr. Hubert Minnis would not be able to rely on former Prime Minister Hubert Ingraham for leadership, Prime Minister Perry Christie emphasized in Crooked Island on Saturday.

He said; ‘Because nobody listens to him, (Dr. Minnis) called Hubert (Ingraham) out of retirement and I don’t want you to forget this, Hubert and I squared off in 2012 and who won in 2012?

So all I’m telling you is this: whether it’s Hubert Ingraham, whether it is the Right Honorable Hubert Ingraham, whether it is ‘Papa’ Hubert whatever it is, that Hubert Ingraham, that papa, that right honorable is not going to be able to do the job for Hubert Minnis because at the end of the day the people of The Bahamas are smart enough to know that it is Minnis that is supposed to lead, it’s Minnis who is supposed to have an idea and a vision for the country, it’s Minnis who does not have the idea, does not have the vision and it is Minnis who is hiding behind a lot of nasty things this time around, just talking bad about people and hoping to win an election on it.’

Mr. Christie’s comments came as he contrasted he unity in his party with the disunity in the FNM in recent years.’

Hasn’t Hubert Minnis been criticized for not talking ‘nasty’ about people on the campaign trail and actually articulating a plan to move the country, thereby leaving many persons disappointed?

4ward2gether

It would seem that the impending doom that faces the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) has its leader speaking in odd tongues and showing his sheer confusion; like the persons that they have out at the round-a-bouts pushing PLP literature into my red SUV with its TWO Free National Movement (FNM) flags; I took it, I will read and I will probably use it against them.

What is this now about Hubert Minnis having to pull the Rt. Hon. Hubert Ingraham out of retirement because no one will listen to him [Dr. Minnis]?  This reminds me of when Perry Christie and the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) pulled Dame Marguerite Pindling out of her bed to speak at their rallies, or have they forgotten this and if Sir. Lynden were alive; anyway it is all politics and good politics.

It is not only good politics for Dr. Minnis to have Hubert Ingraham speak at FNM political events, as president hopeful Hillary Clinton had out-going President Obama speak at some of her political events; it is commonsense and we know one thing, no one can get ‘Papa’ to say anything that he is not willing to say; so what is Perry Christie afraid of?

I laugh at how things have began to play out because Perry Christie should be the last to speak about persons that do not listen, especially to their leader, as he has overseen the most out of control Cabinet and government that this country has ever seen and with each and every misstep by this government there have been NO repercussions and the people of  country has been the ones to suffer but yet the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) insists that we have moved Forward Together.

The country has not moved forward and we certainly have not been together but yet it is the Free National Movement that  Perry Christie would wish for you to believe is disjointed while under the leadership of the Perry Christie and the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) the entire country has been at odds and on the decline for the past five years but now they [the Progressive Liberal Party] seek to convince us to vote for them again so that they can build on the ’foundation’ which they have laid and I ask what foundation and at whose expense?

The Progressive Liberal Party fails for one reason, it is their nature.

My Morning Paper – May 06, 2017 – A Government of Confusion

Mass confusion and grand chaos was the order of the day at the advance poll earlier this week here in New Providence and my only hope is that it was not this at the international polls or on the Family Islands, but this merely goes to show the type of governance which the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) has been and has presented to the people over the past five years.

“CHAOS – Advanced polls plagued by irregularities, confusion” – The Nassau Guardian

Excerpt from this article; “Chaotic scenes played out during the advance poll at Kendal. G. L. Isaacs Gymnasium, with many people waiting for up to four or five hours to vote and others prevented from voting because their names were not on the register.

Some opted to leave instead of waiting it out in the sweltering conditions with no clarity about the process.

In the Family Islands, some people who were registered to vote during the early poll were stunned to learn yesterday morning that, unlike previous elections, advance polls were not taking place on the islands.

This meant that they either had to hop on a plane to New Providence or Grand Bahama yesterday, cancel travel plans for next week or skip voting altogether.

In New Providence, Parliamentary Commissioner Sherlyn Hall had advertised voting at the gym and the nearby stadium.

However, officials changed course, opening polls at the gym only.

This resulted in hundreds of voters at the time, cramming the area surrounding the gym.”

This type of action is indicative of the vision of this government; one that would make such a bold move without considering the possible ramifications, we call this having no ‘foresight’.

Who in this government is in charge of these things?!

sleep again!!

I was one of those persons who waited for what seemed to be an eternity only to be turned away as my name was not on the advanced poll register, it was long and frustrating but as bad as things have gotten, for me I always have come to expect this and more of this ‘new’ PLP; they simply cannot be trusted to get anything right.

This is the reason why this government needs to be voted out; never to ever see the halls of The Honorable House of Assembly ever again.

Who is in charge of ‘elections’ in this out-going government and who will they blame for this chaotic scene, as out-going Prime Minister Perry Christie has already hinted at the Parliamentary Commissioner as being at fault.

The Progressive Liberal Party fails for one reason, it is their nature.

My Morning Paper – April 29, 2017 – Non-Issues and Foolishness

“AG dismisses revelations as ‘foolishness” The Nassau Guardian

Excerpt from this article; “With two PLP Cabinets minister facing explosive revelations surrounding their conduct, Attorney General Allyson Maynard-Gibson indicated that the party’s opponents are attempting to distract the PLP on the ‘finish line’, calling the matters ‘foolishness’.

‘We have just come from the IAAF [World] Relays where when any of our wonderful athletes, when any of them were at the finish line, the opponents tired to distract them,’ she said when asked whether she believes her Cabinet colleagues erred.’

‘We are staying focused.  MY colleagues are staying focused.’

On May 3 and May 10 the record of the Progressive Liberal Party in changing fundamentally this country – I mentioned some of those things today – for the benefit of the Bahamian people stands for itself.

‘And very importantly Bahamian recognize how Bahamian lives have been changed, whether it is Baha Mar, National Health Insurance (NHI), Swift Justice, the FIR (Flight information region); they are all changing the Bahamas and Bahamian lives.’

‘That record speaks for itself.”

MOH PC-Alyson Maynard Gibson Jerome Fitzgerald069

This past week saw Education Minister, Jerome Fitzgerald being exposed in violating the Manual of Cabinet and Ministry Procedure with him soliciting contracts on behalf of his father’s company for three very lucrative contracts in trucking, brokerage and limestone services; these violations have been labeled as ‘non-issues’ by the Chairman of the Progressive Liberal Party, Bradley Roberts and are now being dismissed as ‘foolishness’ by the Attorney General herself.

This past week saw the revelation of over $94,000 being paid to a U.S. bank account for Minister of Labour Shane Gibson between August 2011 and January 2013.  This money, claims Minister Gibson, was used toward his 2012 election campaign and toward initiatives in the Golden Gates constituency, such as scholarships but Minister Gibson has refused to answer as to why they campaign contributions and constituency allowances were being made to a U.S. account and not a local account but yet these matters have been labeled as ‘non-issues- and ‘foolishness’.

This reeks of the sheer arrogance of the present Progressive Liberal Party government, who have now seem to taken the stance that no matter what wrongs they do, it does not matter because the rules and laws do not apply to them.

Indeed this is a level of arrogance that has not been seen before in the history of the Bahamas among its elected officials; we cannot continue down this ‘dark path’.

To be this dismissive of such blatant wrong-dong among the ranks of your parliamentary colleagues and then speak to your success in ‘Swift Justice’ is hypocrisy at his highest.

The Progressive Liberal Party fails for one reason, it is their nature.

My Morning Paper – April 28, 2017 – Favorite Son

“PM praises minister at center of Baha Mar controversy” – The Tribune

Excerpt from this article; “As he continued his silence on the controversy involving several members of his administration, Prime Minister Perry Christie singled out Education Minister Jerome Fitzgerald for praise last night, commending him for his performance this term.

Speaking at a Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) rally on Central Andros last night, Mr. Christie referenced certain party members, including Mr. Fitzgerald, as being a part of the Sir. Lynden Pindling dream.

And in what seemed like the closest he came to referencing the controversies surrounding his government, Mr. Christie also railed against ‘lies’ and ‘fake news’, though he never specified what  he was referring to.

‘The FNM will say all sorts of bad things about us’, he said.  ‘They will tell fake news about us, but we are protected by the shield of faith against the lies, against the fake news.  We will be strong.”

At this point in time can Prime Minister Perry Christie honestly believe that Sir. Lynden would be proud of this Progressive Liberal Party? And exactly what is the ‘fake news’ and lies being told by others about the PLP?

I expressed the opinion two days ago that since these latest instances of controversies have surfaced regarding the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) member of parliament for Marathon, Jerome Fitzgerald, he would probably be promoted within the ranks of the PLP party and today we have the leader of the governing Progressive Liberal Party attempting to present him [Minister Fitzgerald] to the country like ‘Simba’ from the movie ‘The Lion King’ – The Favorite Son, if I were the candidate for Central Andros for the PLP, I just may feel slighted about this all.

favson

This praise would have amazed me if I did not know the nature of the Progressive Liberal Party but it has always seemed that the ‘dirtier’ you are the more worthy of praise you are in this political organization.

Minister Fitzgerald was one of the first ministers out of the gates, after the May 7th 2012 general election win with questionable dealings and controversy; with the ‘gift’ of a nolle prosequi by the acting Attorney General of a client represented by the law firm of Allyson Maynard-Gibson, these clients being ‘suspected’ of smuggling guns into the country.  Mr. Fitzgerald and the attorney general’s office have yet to give a plausible explanation as to why this nolle prosequi was granted but it seems as if minister Fitzgerald took this as a ‘green light’ to do whatever pleased him as a elected government official, seeing that there were really no consequences for these questionable actions as he hid behind the Attorney General – Favorite Son.

Since then, Minister Fitzgerald as openly admitted to concealing a report about the toxic levels of gasoline in the water of the persons of his constituency over fears of losing his job and his actions have gone unpunished the Prime Minister Perry Christie – Favorite Son.

Recently; it has been revealed that Minister Fitzgerald has broken Parliamentary Procedure (Code of Ethics), by soliciting three contracts from former Baha Mar developer, Sarkis Izmirlian.  The Prime Minister has not addressed these current allegations directly; with Bradley Roberts, Chairman of the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) stating in a press release that the matter is a non-issue due to the fact that Mr. Fitzgerald was never able to secure these contrasts n behalf of his family’s business; so even Bradley Roberts knows that Jerome is Perry’s favorite son, I wonder how many others within the party are aware of this, we don’t want anyone catching feelings and the like.

As Minister Fitzgerald is being caught up in a new round of alleged wrong-doing concerning his mother and the National Insurance Board, I ask myself just when will the ‘good’ minister realize that enough is enough but then maybe you are allowed to do as you please without fear of consequence as a Favorite Son.

The Progressive Liberal Party fails for one reason, it is their nature.
