“Davis says he’s surprised by Hill’s firing” – The Nassau Guardian
Excerpt from this article; “Opposition Leader Brave Davis said yesterday he was ‘surprised’ Bahamas Power and Light (BPL) CEO Pamela Hill was fired.
“I am rather surprised about the separation of Mrs. Hill from BPL’, he said.
‘I don’t have all the facts or information that would have informed that decision, but I would query whether it was able to be done in a way that I am hearing that it was done having regard to the obligations contained in the management services agreement.’
‘It’s left to be seen whether or not the process in disengaging her was properly engaged.”

Exactly what is Mr. Davis talking about here? What does he mean when he says he queries “whether it [the termination] was able to be done in such a way that I [Mr. Davis] am hearing it was done having regards to the obligations in the management service agreement”? As the police would say; sounds as if you know much more about this, you need to come with us for questioning.
Mr. Davis either you know what is going on, in which case you should really be ashamed of yourself and the former Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) government who entered into a management contract with Power Secure or you do not know anything, in which case you should just be quiet – please; unless of course you are looking to retain Ms. Hill as a client as you seem to seek to defend her but before you take up the case what exactly is in the management services agreement?
Power Secure was brought in by the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) government to manage The Bahamas Electrical Cooperation (BEC) which then became Bahamas Power and Light (BPL), with Mrs. Hill as CEO and fro day one they were on thin ice.

They were on thin ice because many Bahamians were offended that a foreign company was brought in by the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP government to manage the BEC, when it was the PLP that labeled the Free National Movement (FNM), the Foreign National Movement, where they said under whom “Bahamians need not apply” but then went out showing that they were actually doing the very same thing that they accused the FNM of. Then there was the hurricane wherein BPL under the management of the foreign entity Power Secure just seemed unable to get their act together in restoring the power to the islands affected but the straw that broke the camel’s back was during a period of regular blackouts Mrs. Hill and other executives gave themselves ‘well-deserved’ bonuses in the amount of $1.1 million dollars, when it was clear that Power Secure did not even come close to delivering on its mandate, the most important issues being providing a more reliable supply of power and more affordable power.
It is truly odd that in face of the lack of performance and he underserved bonuses; along with allegations of missing money; sums ranging from $2m to about $7m, there are persons claiming to be surprised by the firing of Ms. Hill – are these people serious?
I guess when you aim for mediocrity and you yourself are incompetent and inept at your job, then you come to accept anything from ‘anyone’; even foreigners brought in to make things better for the Bahamian people and I hope this serves as a lesson as to now allow Bahamians with the knowledge to be given the opportunity.
It seems that each and everything that the PLP has touched in regards of improving power supply has failed; weren’t the persons that were brought in to ‘manage’ the dump also hoping to introduce a ‘waste-to-power’ component? Whatever become of them and their proposal?
Who is the common thread in both cases?
But yet he says he is ‘surprised’.
