My Morning Paper – September 21, 2016 – A Curious Coincidence – Why this Progressive Liberal Party cannot be trusted

“AG drops Sandals case – Nolle prosequi came same day as redundancies” – The Nassau Guardian

Excerpt from this article; “The attorney general stopped a private prosecution against the top management of Sandal’s Royal Bahamian Resort on August 15, the same day the property made 600 jobs redundant, it was revealed today.

Trade Union Congress President Obie Ferguson said it is no coincidence.

‘Obviously from August 15 this nolle prosequi was signed and on August 15th, 600 workers were terminated,” Ferguson told The Nassau Guardian.”

Could it be possible that the most labor friendly government in the history of the Bahamas has failed them again by working against their best interest, while claiming to be unaware of what was happening to them at this resort?

“Gibson blasts Sandals as 600 lose their jobs” – The Tribune; 16th August 2016

Excerpt from this article; Labour Minister Shane Gibson said his ministry was given very little notice by Sandal Royal Bahamian Resort of its decision to make more than 600 employees redundant yesterday so it could conduct renovations.

However, Mr. Gibson’s suggestion was denied by a source connected with Sandals who told The Tribune that high-ranking officials of the resort informed the Prime Minister Perry Christie of their intention to make employees redundant”, so we have a claim of the Prime Minister being informed and a claim by the minister of labour that he was given very little warning ; this within itself is laughable, did the Prime Minister not inform the Minister of Labour of communications from Sandals? Could the Christie administration possibly be this inept and incompetent?

So when did the minister know about the terminations?

‘My ministry first learned of the closure on Tuesday, August 1, with the rest of the country when information was leaked to the media and printed in the local newspapers.  I requested a meeting with officials from Sandals on August 3.

‘We met with Chief Executive Officer of Sandals Resorts International Adam Stewart as well as members of the executive and legal teams.  During that meeting, we asked them to consider laying employees off instead of making then redundant.  They told us that they would consider this suggestion and get back to us within 24 hours.  However, after not hearing from them, my ministry wrote Sandals a letter in August 4, requesting the resort’s latest position and further details on the proposed closure. ‘Sandals has yet to respond to my ministry,’ Mr. Gibson added, ‘Instead resort representatives wrote the attorney general and copied the Ministry of Labour on Friday, August 12, informing us of their decision.”

So the government learned about the planned closure two weeks before it took place, met with officials of the resort, followed it up with a letter and then claimed to have had very little notice of the terminations when the resort notified the attorney general on August 12, three days before the workers were made redundant.

Why does this government continue to play with the livelihoods of the people that they were elected to represent and do so without an iota of empathy?

Continuing in this charade; Minister Gibson then on the 20th of August claimed to be suspicious of the fact that Sandals was holding a job fair just a week after terminating 600 employees.  I have reached the point where I cannot trust this government even if they were to tell me that water if wet, I would have to go and check this for myself because with each passing day they give me more and more reasons to not take them at their word.

There has been no word from the Prime Minister’s office refuting the claims of having been informed of Sandals intentions, only but to say that he found out too late but was it ever the minister’s intent to intervene on behalf of the Bahamian workers?

The Progressive Liberal Party fails for one reason, it is their nature.

My Morning Paper – September 19, 2016 – Agents of Change

“Low support for PLP, FNM – Survey shows huge appetite for change” – The Nassau Guardian

Excerpt from this article; “A recent nationwide poll has revealed what many have long suspected: There is deep dissatisfaction with the current administration and the direction the country is headed in, but people are also unhappy with their options for change.

The Public Domain Poll conducted between August 8 and August 16 found only 14 percent of respondents said they would vote for the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) if an election were held tomorrow.

This might sound like good news for the Official Opposition, but according to the poll, the Free National Movement (FNM) has no cause for celebration.

Among those who responded, only 18 percent said that they would vote for the FNM if an election were held tomorrow.

Fifteen percent said they would vote for the Democratic National Alliance (DNA), one percent said they would vote for the Gatekeepers and two percent would vote independent.

It is unclear when the election will be called, but among those responding to the question 16 percent said they are undecided.

Thirty-six percent said they would not vote if the election were held tomorrow and another nine percent preferred not to say.”

muinns-and-branville-1

The upcoming elections are proving to be very interesting but one thing that can be seen from these numbers, a lot of people are just not interested in voting for one reason or the other; voter confidence is at an all time low.

I was once of the opinion that Bahamians were very resistant to change but if one were to look at these numbers, they are looking for change and the possibility for change is on the horizon.

Within the Free National Movement, there has been a four year ‘birth’ to change and while some in the party do not accept it, the party is slowly picking up quality candidates to represent the people of the country if elected.

While the Democratic National Alliance has offered itself as a party of change, people have been resistant to this change; this is what led to me to once believe that the Bahamian people are resistant to change in the first place, well one of the reasons, but why are these number suggesting that the people want and need change?

braville

I feel that a main indicator of just how much the people want and/or need change will be just how people advocate for change at the Progressive Liberal Party’s national convention in November.

As Dr. Hubert Minnis represents a change in the style of leadership within the FNM, Alfred Sears speaks to a change in style of leadership within the PLP, much like Perry Christie did when he first ran as the leader of that party; nothing much changed and I feel that this is a major factor that has affected voter confidence, but what about the DNA?

The Democratic National Alliance will indeed draw many younger voters but the question still lingers about this political organization’s ability to govern, having only one person within its ranks to have served as a member of parliament.  There are those that will be point to Sir. Lynden and the way in which he and an all Bahamian government came to govern the affairs if its people but times have changed drastically, so the question not is, as it pertains to the DNA, is the electorate willing to take that change?

Indeed, there is the possibility for change, especially within the two major political organizations.  The FNM has already made a change and is now working through its ‘growing pains’, is the PLP willing to make that change that the people are seeking?

“Sears not shaken by support for Christie” – The Nassau Guardian

Excerpt from this article; “Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) candidate for Fort Charlotte Alfred Sears said he is unshaken by the support Prime Minister Perry Christie has headed into the party’s leadership race at the November convention.

Over the past week, a chorus of PLP parliamentarians threw its support behind Christie to remain as leader of the party with some suggesting Sears is fighting a losing battle.

‘Well the persons who are qualified to vote are the delegates and the stalwart councilors, and I’ve been canvassing the stalwart councilors and party officers and I am more than encouraged by the response I’m getting, “ Sears told The Nassau Guardian Friday before boarding a flight to  Abaco  where he planned on meeting with more delegates.”

perry-christie-alfred-sears

While Sear appears to be optimistic about his chances at the Progressive Liberal Party’s November convention, I am quite sure that he is aware that the present leader of the PLP has been adding Stalwart Councilors to the ranks at an alarming rate and that the Stalwarts always outnumbered he delegates in the party; so maybe, just maybe other party members are correct that this is an exercise in futility and I am sure that at one point even Bradley Roberts, Chairman of the Progressive Liberal Party, once expressed the very same sentiment but today he [Bradley Roberts] claims he feels this is the best time for anyone to challenge for leadership of the party, does this include former PLP Chairman Raynard Ribgy?

“Bradley Roberts: Now is the time to challenge Christie: – The Nassau Guardian (September 15, 2016)

Excerpt from this article; “Although he is undecided whether he will seek the chairmanship position at the party’s November convention, Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) Chairman indicated yesterday that now is the time for leadership aspirators in the PLP, including Deputy Prime Minister Philip Brave Davis, to challenge Prime Minister Perry Christie.

‘Anytime is an option for anyone when the seats are declared, the offices are declared vacant,” Roberts told The Nassau Guardian.

‘We are a democratic organization.  Whenever there is an opportunity, it is their right to do so.”

“We are a democratic organization”, this seems to be the present theme of the Progressive Liberal Party November convention; so not to many people have taken Mr. Sears seriously, seeing his ‘challenge’ as a farce; a show to prove that democracy actually exists within the PLP, it does not.

It is also amazing that the chairman of the Progressive Liberal Party would even utter such words after the party that he chairs has not held a national convention since 2009.

Doesn’t Mr. Roberts realize that they have violated their very own constitution by not holding a convention in over seven years?

Doesn’t Mr. Roberts realize that he and others within the organization of the Progressive Liberal Party have aided in Perry Christie holding on to the leadership position through the violation of their constitution and supported and condoned these action and even encouraged them?

Doesn’t Mr. Roberts realize that they have violated the rights of the qualified people in that party to democratically choose who they want in the leadership of the party but then of course the current leader has claimed that he has been encouraged to remain as leader, even by some of the younger members of the party; whatever happened to the bridge to the future?

While the chairman now seeks to brand the party and its inner workings as being ‘democratic’ in nature; we have seen firsthand that this is not the case, as it has been shown time and time again in the Progressive Liberal Party’s governance of the country in the past four plus years, I ask why should we further trust a political organization to run the affairs of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas for another five years, when they seem to only use democracy at their discretion?

The Progressive Liberal Party fails for one reason, it is their nature.

My Morning Paper – September 14, 2016 -Undisputed

‘Undisputed’…this is the only word that I can use to describe Bradley Roberts, Chairman of the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) this morning as he is now officially, in my opinion, the undisputed king of nonsensical ramblings.

“FNM sold out to Izmirlian ‘Roberts suggests Minnis trying to save political soul” – The Nassau Guardian

Excerpt from this article; “Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) Chairman Bradley Roberts yesterday accused the Free National Movement (FNM) of representing the interest of Baha Mar developer Sarkis Izmirlian by recruiting three of the projects former employees to run on its ticket in the upcoming general election.

Roberts was referring to confirmation by former Baha Mar director Dionisio D’Augilar that he intends to run for the FNM; and speculation that former Baha Mar Vice President of Security, Marvin Dames and former head of Baha Mar Leadership Development Institute Jeffery Lloyd are being vetted to run for the party.”

It is simply amazing the manner in which the Chairman of the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) is allowed to put forth such asinine speculations without any proffer of validity without someone in that political organization expressing their displeasure or disappointment at the utter rubbish being churned out on a daily basis on behalf of and in the name of the party; I can only surmise that they quite comfortable with or are afraid of Mr. Roberts or could it be both?

So, Mr. Roberts has rubbed two wet sticks together in a desperate attempt to create a fire to distract from the more pressing travesty that is taking place at this time.

The inner workings of a delusional mind are quite fascinating, to say the very least.

While Mr. Roberts attempts to ‘connect the dot’ that only a delusion mind can concur up, between these three men possibly running under the banner of the Free National Movement and this being a ‘sign’ that Dr. Hubert Minnis, Leader of the Free National Movement, has sold out the party out to Izmirlian, he really should pay more attention to matters of public interests that are more important and much more pressing, unless it is his intent to deflect from these issues.

The main issue at this time being; has the Rt. Hon. Perry Christie, Prime Minister, sold out the country ‘lock, stock and barrel’ to the Chinese to strike his recent ‘deal’ with them?

And as the details of this ‘deal’ have been sealed, the Bahamian public may never know.

The Progressive Liberal Party fails for one reason, it is within their nature.

My Morning Paper – September 12, 2016 – Devil in the Details

At the very moment that Prime Minister Perry Christie delivered the ‘good news’ that an agreement had been reached between the Bahamas government and the Export-Import Bank of China (CEXIM) for the completion of the stalled $3.5 bn Baha Mar resort; wherein the Prime Minister stated that that under the agreement/deal, former employees and unsecured creditors would be paid ‘a significant’ part and ‘possibly’ all of the outstanding money owed to them; there was the question of exactly what were the terms of the arrangement/’deal’ and how would it work?

With those questions being asked the details of the ‘deal’; arrangement/agreement were called upon to be sealed but according to the Prime Minister it was the Export-Import Bank of China (CEXIM) that wanted the details sealed, not many people believed him and as the terms and agreements of the ‘deal’ continue to unfold, the Prime Minister’s words and credibility are being called into question.

“Baha Mar claims: No Guarantee on payments” – The Tribune

Excerpt from this article: “The Claims Committee responsible for administrating pay outs to former employees and creditors of Baha Mar updated its website Friday with additional information about the claims process, including a warning that not every creditor is guaranteed to be paid.

In the updated Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section of the website, claimsspv.net, the committee states: “There is no assurance that you will receive any payment at all.

‘No creditor has any legal entitlement to the fund being administered by the committee.  However, the committee has been formed to review claims and offer payments for valid claims at the committee’s absolute discretion.  Priority will be given to Bahamian creditors on the basis that the fund has been provided in consideration for concession and consents from the government which must benefit the Bahamian people.’

James Smith, the former state minister for finance who heads the Claims Committee, said these statements are made to empathize that pay outs are being made on an ex gratia basis, meaning outside any formal court-supervised liquation process because the money is a gift from the Export-Import Bank of China (CEXIM).

First, I would like to ask exactly what constitutes a ‘valid claim’?

Well one minor detail has been revealed, we now know that the money being used in this process is a ‘gift’ and not a loan, with this being the case and the process not being a ‘court-supervised liquidation process’, why all the secrecy and was the ‘sealing’ of the deal by the Supreme Court not only necessary but also was it legal?

The Christie administration has a lot of explaining to do to the people of the country as more details of this ‘deal’ come to light because with the statement “No creditor has any legal entitlement to the funds and being administered by the committee”, it would seem that the government is telling those that will be paid that they are fortunate to have been favored in the first place.

Indeed, each and every ‘process’ that this government has been involved in on behalf of the people of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas has come under question because each and every one has been ‘shady’’.

So as the Progressive Liberal Party government now prepares itself to ration out this ‘money gift’ to deserving Bahamian creditors, will it also compensate others that were not so fortunate to have ‘their names called’ but were unfortunate enough to have believed in this government and as a result suffered substantial loss all due to their incompetence and ineptitude?

The Progressive Liberal Party fails for one reason, it is their nature.

My Morning Paper – September 09, 2016 – Form a Committee

As of late I must admit I have been surprised by a lot, especially by the Progressive Liberal Party, indeed, their actions surprise and amaze me on a daily basis, so why should today be any different as Bradley Roberts, Chairman of the Progressive Liberal Party(PLP) addresses the Official Opposition, Free National Movement’s (FNM) position and concerns over the recently signed ‘deal’ at Baha Mar.

“Roberts slams FNM over position Baha Mar” – The Tribune

Excerpt from this article; “Progressive Liberal Party Chairman Bradley Roberts has branded the Free National Movement a deeply divided party as the organization is perceived to have taken two positions over the unsealing of documents related to the new deal to open $3.5 billion Baha Mar resort.

On Sunday, the FNM announced that it was collecting signatures for an online petition to demonstrate the level of public displeasure with the sealed deal.

However, on Tuesday, FNM Senator Carl Bethel told The Tribune that legally there is nothing the party can do to force the judiciary to unseal the records.  He explained that this is no legal basis for the political organization to assert a right to know in court in connection to the matter.

These two differing positions, Mr. Roberts said was the latest clear example of the ‘woefully deficient’ decision making and judgment of FNM Leader DR. Hubert Minnis.”

bradley-roberts-and-perry

Let me get this straight, the FNM party launches an on-line petition to demonstrate the level of displeasure with the ‘deal’ and Senator Carl Bethel saying that there is no legal basis to force the judiciary to unseal the ‘deal’ is a sign of deep friction within the Free National Movement?

In this case, the ‘quiet war’ being waged against Alfred Sears as he now sets himself to challenge the Rt. Hon. Perry Christie for leadership of the Progressive Liberal Party, suggesting that the PLP leadership is ‘lacking’; is an all out sign of ‘the great divide’, then?

Of course, Mr. Roberts is simply attempting to deflect away from the ‘woefully deficient’ decision making and overall judgment of the PLP Leader and Prime Minister, Perry Christie; that brought the $3.5 bn Baha Mar resort to a stand still for over a year, having many lose great investments and now looking for the government to help them recoup some of this lost, only to find out it may not be as simple as the Prime Minister and his government outlined.

So as the Chairman of the PLP continues to throw excrement against the wall in an attempt to see just how much he can get to stick; I say if the Free National Movement cannot get the ‘deal’ unsealed due to legal reasons there is always another option; which would be to form a ‘committee’, like the one being formed to look into matters related to the recent ruling handed down by Supreme Court Justice Indra Charles involving Marathon Jerome Fitzgerald and his blatant violation of another person’s constitutionally protected right to privacy; to look into the particulars of exactly why this ‘deal’ has been sealed.

The Progressive Liberal Party fails for one reason, it is their nature.

My Morning Paper – September 7th, 2016 – Even More Details

I am sitting here giddy as a little school boy as the beautiful and popular girl school is about to come and say something to him; it really does not matter what she says, but I’ll piss all over myself with delight at the very thought that thought that would acknowledge me, I imagine this is how we must/should feel as the government releases more details from the secret ‘deal’ struck over Baha mar.

“Baha Mar details revealed” – The Tribune

Excerpt form this article; “James Smith, former Minister of Finance, head of the committee overseeing payouts, said yesterday that creditors owed up to half a million dollars are ‘likely’ to be fully paid what they are owed.

“How much money those owed more than half a million dollars receive, however, will depend on how many eligible creditors come forth with claims, he said.

Some people may decide to stay out and pursue other means of getting the money, he told The Tribune. “Also, some creditors might have gone out of business or left the island.  So we have to see what response we get to the notice (before saying how much money those owed more than half a million dollars are likely to receive.”

baha-mar

So it has began…….that language that the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) government uses when it has done something and not put enough thought behind it; “…….creditors owed up to half a million dollars are likely to be paid…..”, “How much money those owed more than half a million dollars receive, however……”, that language of confusion, chaos, disorder and uncertainty.

Somewhere in that language of uncertainty, it is intimated that some creditors who are owed money may receive a higher payout because some of the original investors involved in the Baha Mar project may have already ‘folded up’ and gone out of business; many losing all of the money that they invested in this venture; is the government now willing to admit that due to its sheer and utter incompetence and ineptitude, that it has put Bahamian owed companies out of business and more people on the employment line?

I wonder how the person faired that had the contracts for the pools, just thinking out loud.

But with all said and done, with all who may be getting paid or not getting paid, all who may be getting a full return on their investment, one question was answered fully and that wads he source of the money but we knew this, right?

“Mr.  Smith could not say how much money will be paid out overall but he expects the Export-Import Bank of China (CEXIM) to deposit the money to the committee by mid-September”, so is ‘the committee’ giving CEXIM a figure to payout or are we divvying up whatever is deposited to ‘the committee’ from CEXIM by mid-September?  Is the government’s position still that CEXIM and/or China Construction America (CCA) 0r the ‘new owners’ will not be given any greater concessions that were awarded to Atlantis?  Just exactly how will CEXIM recover the money paid to creditors and ‘borrowed’ from them to complete the Baha Mar resort?  Will this money be in the cost of the resort to the ‘named buyer’ and how are ‘they’ actively selling a resort without having figure oh the full pay out?

I apologize for thinking out out loud; I know the act is greatly discouraged by some in the first place.

The Progressive Liberal Party fails for one reason, it is their nature.

END

My Morning Paper – September 5th, 2016 – Brace Yourself

We now ready ourselves for another week/round of nonsensical ramblings; irrational apologies and promises from a Progressive Liberal Party government that now wishes to think it has done the Bahamian a great favor by correcting the Baha Mar situation/crisis/saga, choose your adjective.

Minister of Labor, Shane Gibson, was heard boasting this past weekend when he suggested that as in the old western movies, when all seems lost and the music begins to play; he and his government will ride in like ‘heroes’ and rescue the people of the Bahamas not only on Baha Mar but on all other promises that they have failed to deliver on but what about the past four and a half years Mr. Minister?

Yes, the minister and his government are set to ride in and save us all from a mess that they have created through their ineptitude, laziness and greed but now expect us; the people, to thank them for.  This is utter nonsense but as expected the nonsensical ramblings and irrational apologies and promises keep coming.

“PM: Govt. have been told Baha Mar buyers name” – The Tribune

Excerpt from this article; “Prime Minister Perry Christie said she he and a government delegation that traveled to London, England, to meet with investors last week were informed about the identity of the anticipated buyer for the beleaguered Baha Mar resort, however he could not name the group because of the delicate stage of negotiations.

His comments were aired on ZNS News last night and came about a week after he suggested on a local talk show that the government did not yet know who the prospective buyer of the $3.5 billion resort is.”

All I would like to say is that each and every time that I hear the name Hutchison Whampoa, I get nervous, but then oh yes the prime minister has still not given us the name of the buyer yet, still holding onto ‘key details’ for the ‘sealed deal’, he ‘spoon feeds’ the citizens of the Bahamas.

Well, we will have to wait until the Prime Minister deems it appropriate for us to know the details of this ‘deal’ that he has struck on our behalf and in our best interest, by this time maybe, just maybe, the will also share with us just how much this deal is costing us taxpayers.

We now know one thing for sure; it has already cost us the airfare to fly the Prime Minister and his delegation of ‘negotiators’ to London.

Just some random questions; did the China ‘partners’ not only direct the Bahamas government and courts what to do in this matter but also directing the government on whom the buyer should be?

The Progressive Liberal Party fails for one reason, it is their nature.

My Morning Paper – August 31, 2016 – Total Surprise

“Fitzgerald suprised at Baha Mar concerns” – The Tribune

Excerpt from this article: “Education Minister Jerome Fitzgerald said yesterday he is surprised by the ‘level of unhappiness’ some Bahamians have expressed at news that the government has struck a deal with the Export-Import Bank of China (CEXIM) to pay creditors and employees of Baha Mar and restart work on the resort.

In wake of Prime Minister Perry Christie’s announcement of the deal last week, reactions have been mixed.

Some have expressed relief and gratitude while others have knocked the Christie administration for not disclosing key details about the agreement.”

I know that it is part of a politician’s job to spin facts in the favor but when you spin them with nonsensical statements, when they become implausible then this is a totally different case and sadly this is point which the Member of Parliament for Marathon has reached with this statement; it is so far beyond the asinine that even if you were to squint and look at it sideways it still does not look credible, much like the person making the statement in this case.

Jerome Fitzgerald (1)

Minister Fitzgerald claims to be ’surprised by the level of unhappiness’ that some have shown over the deal struck between the Bahamian government and the Chinese over the completion of Baha Mar; I have not seen anyone express ‘unhappiness’ but I have heard a lot of people have expressed great concern and have become very leery over the fact that the minister and his government have attempted to convince the people of the Bahamas that CEXIM is willing to complete the Baha Mar resort and put it up for sale out of the ‘goodness of their hearts’; that is without any expectation of some sort of reciprocation.

I also find it surprising that the minister and his government can spend so much time on this exercise of attempting to convince people of what ‘great works’ that they have done in striking this ‘secret deal’; while only correcting a disaster of their very own making through the mishandling of this situation in light of the recent downgrade of our credit rating right about ‘junk’ status; the third credit rating since this progressive Liberal Party came to power in May of 2012.

So as the minister expresses ‘surprise by the level of unhappiness some Bahamians have expressed over the news of the ‘secret deal’ that he and this government has struck over Baha Mar; which is really grave concern, he may actually be surprised at the level of ‘unhappiness’ being expressed by many Bahamians in the performance of the Progressive Liberal Party as a government.  As former Cabinet minister Loftus Roker has come out and characterized the county’s leaders as a ‘tainted bag of apples’.

The Progressive Liberal Party fails for one reason, it is their nature.

My Morning Paper – August 30, 2016 – Full Blown Delirium

In a style that only Bradley Roberts, Chairman of the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) can manage to pull off because no one really expects any better from him, he sets out to attack Opposition Leader, Dr. Hubert Minnis, based solely on deceptive assumptions and flawed conclusions to feed to the people of the Bahamas, further showing his desperate state of delusion and dare I say delirium?

“FNM wanted Baha Mar to fail – Roberts says Minnis unfit to serve” – The Nassau Guardian

Excerpt from this article; “Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) Chairman, Bradley Roberts said yesterday the Free National Movement (FNM) heavily criticized the government following the announcement that it had reached an agreement with the Export-Import Bank of China (CEXIM) to complete Baha Mar because the party was ‘hoping against all odds’ that the Christie administration would not come to a resolution.

‘To me, it [is] a distraction,’ Roberts said at a press conference at PLP headquarters.

‘The FNM was shocked beyond words that [Prime Minister Perry] Christie was able to reach an agreement.”

bradtommy

At this time, it is my understanding, that there is a ‘deal’ in place, the details of which are unknown and sealed.  The only details being released so far are that the Bahamian creditors are being paid some or maybe all of the monies owed to them after the Progressive Liberal Party needlessly forced the $3.5b resort into receivership, putting over 2,000 Bahamians out of work and having their livelihoods hang in the balance for over a year while they [the Progressive Liberal Party government] scrambled around desperately in attempts to correct a disaster purely of their making.

While Mr. Roberts talks about the Prime Minster sitting down all ‘parties concerned’ to reach this agreement, it is strange that the developer, Sarkis Izmirlian is no longer considered a ‘party of concern’ in this matter; the only parties being the Bahamas government, the Export-Import Bank of China (CEXIM), China Construction America (CCA) and an unknown buyer, who Prime Minister Perry Christie says is a decision to be made by the ‘bank’, so why would there be any surprise that an agreement has been reached?  It would appear as if the Christie administration is surprised and relieved that the Chinese has finally given in but at what cost?

There are questions about this ‘secret deal’ that the governing Progressive Liberal Party has been asked to answer by the Opposition and concerned citizens, and for the Chairman of the PLP to then intimate that the mere action of requesting accountability from this government is a sign that you would have wanted this project to fail is disingenuous, utter rubbish; nothing more than lies and deception by the Chairman to distract from their ineptitude and incompetence when handling this matter but it seems that the PLP Chairman’s job is to throw enough feces at the wall in hopes that some sticks and he has shown this just may be his greatest political talent.

It is my opinion that anyone that expresses shock or surprise that the Christie administration and CEXIM FINALLY came to an agreement to complete Baha Mar is not fit to serve but we the people would like to know what has been given up to have CEXIM come to this ‘agreement’ after over a year of the project sitting dormant, because we all know that the Chinese do not do anything ‘on air’, to borrow some street jargon.  So while the Chairman continues to shoot excrement, we the people will wait to see just how much this ‘deal’ is costing us.

The Progressive Liberal Party fails for one reason, it is their nature.
